Understanding the Gut Microbiome

What is the Gut Microbiome?

The gut microbiome refers to the trillions of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, that reside in our digestive tract. These microscopic inhabitants play a crucial role in our overall health, influencing everything from digestion to immune function.

The Role of Bacteria in Digestion

One of the primary functions of gut bacteria is aiding in digestion. These microorganisms help break down complex carbohydrates, fibers, and proteins, making it easier for our bodies to absorb essential nutrients. They also assist in the synthesis of certain vitamins, like vitamin K and some B vitamins, which are vital for various bodily functions.

How the Microbiome Affects Overall Health

But the influence of the gut microbiome extends far beyond digestion. Research has shown that a healthy gut microbiome is linked to a robust immune system, as these bacteria play a key role in educating and regulating our immune responses. There’s also growing evidence to suggest that our gut microbiome can impact our mental health, mood, and even behaviors, a phenomenon often referred to as the “gut-brain axis.”

What is Gut Health?

When we talk about gut health, we’re referring to the balance and function of these microorganisms in our gastrointestinal tract. A healthy gut is not just about digesting food; it’s about maintaining a harmonious balance of these microbes.

Defining Gut Health and Its Importance

Good gut health means having a diverse range of beneficial bacteria that can effectively process the food we eat, protect us from pathogens, and communicate with our immune system. This balance is essential for not just preventing gastrointestinal issues, but also for overall well-being.

Signs of a Healthy vs. Unhealthy Gut

A healthy gut is typically characterized by regular bowel movements, the absence of chronic digestive discomfort, and a strong immune system. On the other hand, signs of an unhealthy gut can include frequent diarrhea or constipation, bloating, excessive gas, and even impacts on mental health like increased anxiety or depression. It’s important to recognize these signs as they can indicate an imbalance in your gut microbiome, known as dysbiosis, which can lead to various health issues.

In conclusion, understanding the gut microbiome and maintaining gut health are crucial for our overall health and well-being. By nurturing our gut microbiome through diet, lifestyle choices, and possibly supplements, we can ensure it continues to support our health in numerous ways.

How to Improve Gut Health

Improving gut health is a multi-faceted approach that involves dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and sometimes, supplementation. Here, we explore various strategies to enhance your gut health effectively.

Dietary Choices for Optimal Gut Health

It is no question that running as an exercise can be beneficial in numerous ways. It can help you build your stamina as well as get in shape. However, if you are new to running, keeping a few aspects in mind may be essential.

It wouldn’t be wrong to state that weight loss is directly proportional to running. When you run, you usually burn many calories, thus paving the way for a healthy lifestyle. Since everybody deals with busy schedules, it may turn out to be a bit hard to make time for oneself. Thus, prioritizing and shifting schedules may turn out to be quite advantageous in this aspect!

Although many other activities, including swimming and cycling, can aid in calorie burnout, they may have a few entry restrictions. For example, for swimming, you may need a swimming pool. Besides, for cycling, you may need a proper track. However, you can run anywhere you want!

Indeed, the advantage of accessibility makes running an ideal exercise, especially for weight loss. All you need is a good pair of running shoes and probably a friend or headphones. Today, many people usually find it difficult to prioritize their time for running.

Although running may be accessible and easy, many injuries and complications follow. Thus, one may need to follow a few strategies to prevent injuries or over-stressing of muscles. However, one can use the following list of strategies to avoid injuries and achieve fast results!

Few Ways To Achieve Fast Results And Prevent Injuries

1. Consider Eating A Healthy Diet

Running isn’t and should not be a reason for you to ignore your overall diet completely. Thus, this case is applicable, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Apart from that, if you over-stress your muscles and run for a long time, especially after ignoring your diet, then you may find yourself gaining unexpected weight.

Although you may want to treat yourself, it is a recommendation that you keep your desire to eat junk under control. Thus, this way, you will be way more determined to reach your goal in no time! A healthy diet may involve an essential balanced diet with leafy vegetables and protein.

2. Don’t Forget To Do A Warmup Session Before You Run.

It is imperative for an athlete to do a good warmup session before an intensive running workout. Thus, this can allow the muscles to prepare for an intense workout session. However, jumping right into an overall cardio workout can cause minor muscle tears or sprains. Therefore, make sure to do at least ten minutes of warmup exercises or preparatory training sessions!

3. Consider Running Before Breakfast

Many researchers conclude that running before breakfast can help with efficient calorie burnout compared to otherwise. For example, a study found that individuals that went for a job right before breakfast burnt four times more calories than individuals that worked out after breakfast! Although it isn’t necessary, consider prioritizing your schedule according to your convenience if you find it difficult to follow up.

Running right after breakfast, dinner, or lunch can turn out to be counterproductive. Thus, intense activity right after ingestion can disrupt the digestion process and lead to vomiting. Apart from that, some people also feel pretty sick right after running. Therefore, keeping all these aspects in mind, it is usually a recommendation to go for a jog or a run on an empty stomach!

4. Always stay hydrated

Staying hydrated at all times is very important. People are so engrossed in the busy schedules that they forget the most important aspect of feeding their bodies in this modern era. As a result, many individuals skip breakfast or consume less water due to their irregular routines and schedules. Thus, it is crucial for you to be aware of your present conditions in such situations.

Consider carrying a water bottle during a job or an important meeting. Staying hydrated at all times can help to prevent dizziness or nauseousness. Besides, it may also help in aiding digestion. Therefore, you must consider drinking at least three liters of water daily!

5. Do Not Overstress Your Muscles

While working out, make sure that you give your body a break between sessions. Thus, this can help your body build up stamina gradually. However, many individuals usually overstress their muscles while working out. Indeed, this can have counterproductive effects on an individual’s body.

While running, you may feel exhausted. Make sure to stop by and hydrate your body. Apart from that, you can also perform breathing exercises to help your body prepare for the next session. Yet again, it is crucial for you not to overstress your muscles or over-fuel your body for a run!

6. Keep A Rest Day For Your Body

If you are following a particular schedule for your running exercise, you recommend that you devote one day to complete rest. Then, of course, you can treat yourself to a delicacy or watch your favorite movie on such days. But, apart from that, athletes ideally keep a rest day once a week!

Conclusion

Indeed, running can help you not only physically but mentally as well. Although such exercises help get in shape, they can also provide overall mental satisfaction. Therefore, consider making a fitness timetable today and keep track of your goals. Then, you can invest in some good-quality running shoes and get on your track today!

About 40 trillion microbes reside in your body, among which the majority of them reside in your gut. Collectively referred to as the gut microbiome, they are crucial for an individual’s health! Unfortunately, however, numerous microbes can also be the leading cause of dangerous gut diseases.

The food you consume does influence the kind and concentration of bacteria your gut holds. Besides, eating certain foods can improve your overall gut health quite significantly. For your convenience, a few of the most beneficial foods are listed below!

Foods Which You Can Consume To Improve Your Gut Health

1. Stick To A Diet Rich In Various Plant Resources

Indeed, if your diet consists of a wide range of foot types, then you may have a diverse range of microbiomes residing in your gut. Since each microorganism plays a significant role in your gut, it is essential to preserve their biome. Plant-based foods can increase the overall content of good bacteria in your gut quite significantly.

Usually, the western diet is not quite diverse since it contains more fat as well as sugar. However, diets in rural areas are usually more diverse and plant-based, thus benefiting your health significantly!

2. Consider Consuming Lots Of Legumes, Fruits, As Well As Vegetables

Vegetables and legumes are usually the best sources of minerals as well as nutrients. Since they contain high levels of fiber, the body may not be able to digest them. Yet again, certain kinds of bacteria in the gut can digest fiber, thus leading to their growth!

A recent study also proves that some vegetables and fruits can prevent the growth of various disease-causing bacteria in the gut. In addition, some of the well-known high fiber foods beneficial for your gut health include the following.

Artichokes

Broccoli

Green Peas

Chickpeas

Beans

Whole Grains

3. Eat Foods That Have Undergone Fermentation

The sugars in various foods are usually broken down by bacteria or even yeast during fermentation. Some of these foods may include yogurt, kimchi, and tempeh. Apart from that, numerous foods also contain lactobacilli that can turn out to be quite beneficial for your gut.

A recent study shows that individuals that consume yogurt have more content of lactobacilli in their gut. Thus, they are usually at lower risk of suffering from inflammation or other chronic gut diseases. Indeed, it is no question that the consumption of yogurt can improve an individual’s overall intestinal health. Besides, it can also prevent the symptoms of lactose intolerance up to some extent!

Yet again, it may be vital for you to realize that flavored yogurt may not have the same benefits. Thus, this is because these products usually contain a lot of sugar. Indeed, it becomes vital for an individual to read the label carefully when purchasing flavored yogurt!

4. Consume Foods Containing Prebiotics

Prebiotics are substances that stimulate the growth of good bacteria in your gut. In fact, they contain carbs that the gut usually cannot digest. Thus, certain kinds of bacteria that can digest these substances evolve and use these carbs as fuel for growth! Therefore, one can find prebiotic-rich foods in the form of fruits, vegetables as well as whole grains!

Individuals that suffer from high cholesterol or obesity can consume prebiotics to prevent various heart conditions. However, it is necessary for you to consult your doctor regarding the prebiotic that can help your gut! Specific prebiotics can also reduce the insulin levels in your body!

5. Consider Consuming Whole Grains

Whole grains contain beta-gluten that isn’t absorbed correctly by the small intestines. Thus, these eventually reach the large intestine to help in the stimulation of growth of certain beneficial bacteria. As a result, whole grains usually cause a feeling of fullness. Apart from that, they also improve various heart conditions but counteracting the factors that cause inflammation!

However, it may be essential for you to realize that not all whole grains can be beneficial for your gut. For example, grains such as wheat and rye may have a negative impact on your gut health. These can cause inflammation or increased permeability of the intestines as well!

6. Consume Foods Rich In Polyphenols

Polyphenols are plant-based compounds that have numerous health benefits. For example, these compounds may cause an overall reduction in inflammation, as well as blood pressure. In fact, it can also aid in decreased levels of cholesterol. In addition, the colon contains a various range of microorganisms that can help in digesting these compounds.

Some of the foods rich in polyphenols may include dark chocolate, green tea, almonds, and onions. In fact, blueberries and red wine are also known to improve your gut health quite significantly. Indeed, you must consider stocking up on these food items today!

7. Increase Your Probiotic Intake

Probiotics usually contain good live bacteria that can help in specific health conditions. In the majority of cases, these substances don’t reside in the intestines permanently. Yet again, they may support your body’s overall metabolism quite efficiently. Probiotics may also change your overall microbiome concentration.

Probiotics can influence the functioning of certain bacteria in your gut. In fact, they can also lead other bacteria to produce various chemicals that may be beneficial for your health. Foods that are usually quite rich in probiotics include sauerkraut and kefir!

Another alternative to consuming probiotics is supplements. Yet again, it may be essential for you to consult your specialist before opting for any supplementation. Apart from that, it may also be necessary to keep track of other medications you are having at the same time!

Conclusion

In the big picture, it is no doubt that a disrupted microbiome of your gut can lead to many chronic diseases. In fact, when it comes to many aspects of your gut, a stable microbiome becomes very important. Thus, it is crucial for an individual to eat a variety of healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. Therefore, it is a recommendation that you start your mindful journey today!

In today’s fast-paced life, everyone has a stressful and rapid lifestyle, which eventually leads to an unhealthy body and mind. This stressful lifestyle results in stress-induced health issues such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes, headache, depression, etc.

Moreover, due to unconventional methods of food contamination, dietary habits, and high pollution levels, the immunity power is challenged. Therefore, medical experts advise getting a complete body check-up regularly to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Should you get a yearly physical exam or not? This question has been in the news recently, as some studies have shown that the overuse of specific tests, which in some cases happen during annual physicals, could be harmful. So does this mean you should not go for a regular physical check-up? They are essential, but traditional means something different to different people. A lot of it depends on your age and your overall health.

The common logic behind regular physicals is that they can detect problems early, while treatment is still an option, or a diagnosis can be easily made. It is also a time when you can discuss anything concerning you or get recommendations about lifestyle changes that might not seem appropriate when you are seeing your doctor for an acute problem.

And conversely, putting off your physical can lead to severe complications because some severe illnesses and diseases have no early physical signs or symptoms – but can be identified earlier, which is often done during a physical.

Most of us think that we don’t need Health Check-up until not diagnosed with a particular disease. But this is a wrong concept. A regular health check-up is always required and necessary for everyone. And for older adults, it is strongly recommended. There may be many health issues that may arise suddenly in the case of the elderly. Perhaps we do not need a full-scale checkup yearly, but knowing about the essentials of our health is necessary, including factors like pressure and sugar, mainly if we are obese or lead unhealthy lifestyles.

Regular health checkup lets you be on top of your health and reduce the risk of falling ill. Diagnose a disease before it advances to a critical stage. Ensure that you save money in the long run. It motivates you to lead a healthier and active lifestyle. Check-ups are essential for many reasons as they help us identify potential problems.

A health check-up includes a series of tests to check if your health is on the right track. It is also aimed at detecting the hidden disease and reducing its effects on your body.

Getting health check-ups regularly can actually increase life expectancy.

It is indeed said that Health is Wealth and Prevention is better than cure!

Here are some general guidelines you can follow:

If you’re under 30 and live a healthy lifestyle, meaning you don’t smoke or drink too much, don’t have known disease risk factors, get a check-up every two to three years.

If your age is within 30-40 and healthy, consider getting a physical every other year.

Mammograms are now recommended for women above 40 baselines and should be repeated every 1-2 years. But other than that, most of us can still get by with a complete check-up every couple of years.

As we get older, many of us start to see more physical problems in general, and so at around age 50, you should begin getting annual physicals.

After 50, both men and women should first undergo colonoscopies to screen for colon cancer. This is not an annual test. Colonoscopies are only recommended every ten years unless you have a family history of colon cancer, colon polyps, or abnormal test results.

If you are overweight, you should also consider getting physicals on a more regular basis. Extra weight puts you in more problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

What can we expect at a health check-up?

Clinical history: The doctor will regularly check your medical record, such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, BMI, immunizations, etc., for future reference at each health check-up.

Family History Of Diseases: The doctor will discuss the diseases that are hereditary in your family.

Past medical history: The doctor will review all past medications and medical procedures such as surgeries.

Lifestyle information: such as working style, living conditions, work-life balance.

Habits: such as the use of recreational drugs, smoking, sexual practices.

Others: Specific body function information such as sleeping, bowel movements, hearing, vision, etc.

So how is this going to benefit?

Reducing health care costs

Regular health checkups help in diagnosing diseases early. This type of preventive health checkup would reduce the risk of chronic medical conditions or surgeries that involve higher medical expenses. This preventative approach will save money in the long run.

Eliminates the possibility of worsening health complications

Diagnose a disease before it advances to a critical stage. Cancer is a disease that, if diagnosed later, can become difficult to treat. Regular health checkups can detect signs of cancer early. It further would contribute to complete recovery.

Increased awareness to manage a healthy lifestyle

The patient becomes more aware of his health and the potential problems and can take the precautions needed to protect his well-being. People in different stages of life living varying lifestyles will need different types of check-ups to evaluate their health status and take any preventive action that may be required.

The best way to get the proper check-up is to go to a well-known and highly reputed medical center that offers several health check packages. This will enable the patient to find one that is right for them. Understanding one’s health and taking control of it is an empowering experience.

Increased Lifespan

“A stitch in time saves nine” – the preventive health care will ensure increased lifespan by preventing death by early detection and timely treatment post-diagnosis.

Conclusion

Health checkups are a significant part of one’s health cycle. Timely health checkups can help you diagnose the disease earlier and, hence, can be cured on time. If you haven’t gotten a health checkup yet and haven’t gotten it for years, the right time is now and every once in a year from now onwards.

Just when the world thought that the pandemic was bidding us all a goodbye, omicron came in as a surprise. A surprise that made nobody happy. The world had just started to become normal again, and people were just beginning to regain their life’s momentum, but then, omicron struck. It almost feels as if the understanding that countries had of Covid-19 has broken and shattered considering the speed at which the new variant, omicron, research, is spreading.

Many questions remain unanswered concerning the variant and how it affects all vaccinated, unvaccinated, or previously had a Covid infection. Despite this, experts are making progress in their understanding of the variant.

The spike protein of Omicron, which was discovered in South Africa on November 24, contains 32 mutations. According to the WHO, Omicron is a Variant of Concern because of its high transmissibility and ability to evade the immune system (WHO). Hospitalizations decreased as South Africa prepared for a wave of sick patients, even as the number of Omicron cases increased.

Is Omicron as kind as it seems?

During the Omicron wave, only 41.3% of Covid-positive people who visited a hospital emergency room required admission, compared to 68-69 percent during the Delta wave, according to a South African study published in JAMA Network In the Omicron wave, just 17.6% of patients required oxygen therapy, compared to 74% in the Delta wave.

Patients with compromised immune systems, those who haven’t been vaccinated, and unvaccinated people may all be at risk from the spread of Omicron, which is highly contagious. This rapid spread of Omicron has been attributed to its greater transmissibility, which is 1.5-2 times more than that of Delta.

Do the symptoms of Omicron appear quickly?

A person infected with omicron may experience symptoms in as little as three days, compared to a week with prior versions, according to preliminary research.

The omicron version has a shorter incubation period than other highly contagious viruses, making scientific sense. However, additional research is needed. As a matter of fact, its primary objective is to infect the most significant number of people as rapidly as possible.

Some common symptoms of Omicron are:

Fatigue

Sore Throat

High Fever

Continuous Cough

Headache

How to treat Omicron at home?

The use of masks and sanitizers is mandatory, but so is the preparation of the body and immune system for the battle against the virus in the first place. Short-term immunity boosters won’t help in this situation. Instead, change your lifestyle, adopt healthy habits, and eat the proper meals for the long term to get the best results. Immunity building cannot be accomplished in a weekend or a week but instead requires a long-term commitment.

Make sure you’re getting enough water

The immune system relies heavily on water for proper functioning, as does the rest of the body. Immune cells travel throughout the body in lymph, fluid in the circulatory system. Since water makes up the majority of the body’s composition, becoming dehydrated can result in sluggishness and, in some cases, a compromised immune system.

Relieve tension

Stress can lead to a variety of illnesses, so it’s important to get it out of your system. In order to alleviate stress, it is crucial to practice frequent conscious breathing and meditation. In addition, stress can interfere with the body’s natural defense mechanisms, making it more vulnerable to disease.

Exercising regularly

In order to maintain good health and a robust immune system, it is critical to engage in regular physical activity. Immune cells and other molecules are more likely to spread throughout the body due to increased circulation as a result of regular exercise.

Regular health checkups

Vitamin D, calcium, iron, and other vital nutrients can be determined through regular health checks. To make treatment even more accessible, it aids in the early detection of disease. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss when it comes to health.

Concentrate on nutrition

Our experience with the pandemic has shown us that no supplement can cure or prevent the illness. In order to stay healthy, one must take steps to increase their immune system’s capacity. Inflammation and unstable compounds can be treated with antioxidant-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, strawberries, green tea, and other antioxidant-rich foods like pecans, blueberries, spinach, and walnuts. In addition, boost your immune system by eating foods like ashwagandha, tulsi, and giloy, which are immune boosters.

Spices

We are all aware that Indian spices can heal almost any disease when used in the right combinations. As a result, season your meals with spices such as cinnamon, pepper, cardamom, star anise, and cloves. Also, don’t forget to include dried turmeric and dried ginger. Both of these have some fantastic anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Sleep

Every night, without fail, get at least 8 hours of sleep. When we sleep, our immune systems are built and replenished. So avoid sleeping during the day because if you do so, your body’s sleep cycle gets disturbed. This will prevent a sound sleep during the night, which will make your next day difficult.

Conclusion

Although Omicron is not as dangerous as the other variants, one shouldn’t take a risk against it. The remedies mentioned above will help your body fight against the various strains of Covid and help you maintain good physical and mental health. Staying calm, eating the right food, and ensuring that your sleep cycle is not disturbed is the best way to fight this pandemic.

Vitamin D is one of the most required vitamins for your body. Sun is the main and biggest source of vitamin d. But even though being the largest source of vitamin d, about 1 billion people don’t have access to it. Lack of vitamin d can cause weakness, fatigue and will eventually result in the loss of bone density. If you want to keep your muscles, bones healthy for long you must intake a sufficient amount of vitamin d. There are many signs that indicate the lack of vitamin d in you. And the earlier you know, the better.

Though vitamin d deficiency is very common, in both genders and most of the age groups suffer from it, its awareness isn’t that much. It’s so because of two reasons, prior is their lack of awareness, followed by symptoms being so insecure, that one can hardly detect if it’s really due to deficiency of vitamin d or just mere infection. There are many natural as well as artificial sources of vitamin d like cheese, egg yolks, mushrooms, fatty fish. If you are not getting enough sunlight in a day, then yes, you are at high risk of vitamin d deficiency. It isn’t like it cannot be fixed, with a proper diet and getting exposed to the sun can bring a lot of changes, you just have to know when is the best time.

Here are some common signs that indicate vitamin D deficiency:

Anxiety and depression:

Melatonin is a body chemical produced when the body interacts with sunlight, the more exposure of skin to sunlight, results in more production of melatonin. Serotonin is another chemical produced by melatonin in our body. Simply saying production of serotonin in the body is directly proportional to the production of melatonin in the body. More exposure of the body to the sun means more melatonin thus more serotonin.

Too little serotonin in the body leads one to feel depressed, anxious, irritable.

Deficiency of Vitamin D can lead to bone pain:

All of us have heard about rickets right or say soft or weak bones in kids if they lack vitamin d or exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D is the best cure for ‘rickets’, As Vitamin D absorbs phosphorus and calcium resulting in strengthening and building bones. That means a deficiency of Vitamin D can cause bone pain.

Chronic Muscle Pain:

This one is less heard and doesn’t get detected that this is happening due to lack of Vitamin D. This can be misunderstood by many other things. So if you also feel chronic muscle pain and assume other factors for that first thing first get your Vitamin test done. It can be done by blood test at your nearest pathology. These tests are of two types that can confirm your deficiency of Vitamin D but the most common to detect deficiency of Vitamin D is 25-hydroxyvitamin D, known as 25(OH)D for short.

Hair Loss:

You will say that isn’t correct, yes hair fall does have several reasons. The major one is the lack of nutrition in daily life. But hair fall can also happen due to lack of Vitamin D. There can be two types when it is due to lack of Vitamin D-one is female pattern hair loss, which leads to an overall thinning of scalp There are two types of hair loss associated with low vitamin D levels — first is female pattern hair loss. While the other causes hair loss all over the body. So before going crazy over chemical products, get proper sunlight mate.

Degrading immune function:

Vitamin D plays an important role in keeping your immune system strong and intact. We all know how horrifying a weak immune system can be, it became worse after the pandemic. A strong immune system fights better against bacteria and viruses entering our body causing illness. It directly involves the cells that are majorly responsible for fighting against infection.

A poor immune system results in an increased risk of infections and illness. When your immune function is strong your body reacts positively to every action that occurs to the body.

Low Vitamin D can result in fatigue and constant tiredness:

Do you also feel tired all the time? Constant feeling of fatigue?

These are the signs of lack of Vitamin D. It affects overall life way too much. But it’s not like it can not be cured, just by following a few diets and living habits you can recover the deficiency of vitamin D.

Obesity:

Being obese or overweight increases your risk of vitamin D deficiency by 35% as per 23 recent studies. The exposure to sun and diet may be similar for both obese and non-obese people. Meanwhile, after 24 hours the content of Vitamin D in an obese person’s blood was 57% lesser. Thus the normal exposure of skin to sun or diet does not work the same in an obese or overweight person.

Can deficiency of vitamin D be cured?

It’s always better to treat any deficiency at its earliest stage and tackle it naturally. Same here your Vitamin D in your blood can be increased with some Vitamin D-rich food like mushrooms, fortified soy milk, fortified cereals. Or by more exposure of your skin to the sun.

And it can also be kept up to mark by taking vitamin D supplements.

These three are the main mantras of increasing the level of Vitamin D in your blood. Still, supplements should never be your priority. Keep track of your activities and if you face any of the above efficiency. If yes, get your blood test done to detect deficiency of Vitamin D. And start with vitamin D-rich food and exposure to the sun.

Many little things lead to heart disease. Though it doesn’t seem like such a big deal. But many tiny things inside your body eventually lead to heart disease and yes, not everything leads to heart disease or ultimately becomes the reason for death.

This article will bust your myths about heart disease and how you can reduce the chances of heart disease. There are numerous causes that you can never change about heart disease. If it is inherent, then there’s no going back, you can or cannot have heart disease, it kind of depends on yourself about how strong your body is. Here are some tips about how you can reduce the chances of having heart disease.

Don’t smoke or use any tobacco:

If you’re a regular smoker and are reading this article, then it’s high time you must quit smoking. You must have recognized at least some symptoms by now, and it’s not good for you to even sit with or in front of any passive smoker, as it indirectly affects your heart, lungs, and whole body.

It is because the chemicals from which cigarettes and tobacco are made can destroy your heart and blood vessels. Your heart has to work more to pump more blood. As cigarette smoke reduces the level of oxygen in your blood, it eventually increases your blood pressure and heart rate to pump enough oxygen towards your body and brain. If you quit today, you will see visible changes in your body automatically. Even your risk of heart disease would also be reduced as you gradually quit smoking. 6 months without smoking, and you will see a new you, in much better health too.

Maintain your blood pressure level:

Half of the population of the U.S suffers from hypertension, high blood pressure. Lifestyle has changed of course it’s chaotic, more toxic, and competitive than before. And that is directly affecting the physical health of most individuals. Hypertension, blood pressure can be the most obvious reasons for heart disease. You can control them. Like high blood pressure by exercising and healthy eating. You must lower the intake of your salt, and it will show some quick effects on your condition.

With high blood pressure, you tend to feel more fatigued too, and getting tested especially for weakness and proper sleep is a must before it reaches deterioration of your inner body conditions, especially heart.

Move, and get active!

No offense to any kind of body positivity, but if you keep on adding pounds to yourself, you’re most likely to get various diseases, including heart disease too. People who don’t move much, or don’t have a regular habit of exercising are more likely to get affected by various diseases and also have a shorter span of life.

Starting with a quick 30 minutes of workout and gradually moving towards 60-70 minutes can show great improvement in your health conditions. Physical activities can not only help you in reducing the chances of having diseases like 2 type diabetes, high blood pressure but also help you in reducing and maintaining weight.

Different types of workouts help you in reducing heart disease, like quick HIIT, cardio, and even moderate household activities like house cleaning, gardening, and taking stairs instead of lifts. You will see changes in yourself just within a few days by increasing the frequency and intensity of your workout.

Improve your diet:

A balanced and nutritious diet can help you glow inside out. It improves your blood pressure, cholesterol, protects your heart, and eventually reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. You must include vegetables, fruits, beans, pulses, legumes, whole grains, and healthy fats like olive oil. And if you are a non-vegetarian, then you must add frequent lean meats, fish. Just try to have low-fat and fat-free dairy food if you’re having them.

If you can see changes in yourself regarding your heart, then you must limit a few ingredients from your overall diet in general like sugar, salt, any processed food. Because they have carbohydrates, saturated fat, dairy products, trans fat is mostly present in chips, baked food, and alcohol as well.

Manage your stress:

Stressing out almost everything can be the one sole reason for many diseases and ruining your mental health too. Stress can affect your blood pressure, cholesterol levels. There are two types of tension, stress eating. One makes you eat more, actually very much more and one makes you eat a lot less. Neither of them is good for that matter.

Stress smoking is also a very real situation. As you find it the only escape from your stress. Assistant professor tan says that” Researches have shown that after 2 hours of an angry outburst, a person’s risk of heart attack nearly gets multiplied by 5”. Though it is indeed hard to cope with this level of stress, it isn’t something unachievable and you must fight with your inner self to be better both physically as well as mentally. Get into stress relief groups or in yoga to see how well you do. Know your mental state, and how it reacts when you start to stress out.

Get quality sleep:

No matter how much one emphasizes having a good tight sleep. People still won’t ever consider sleep as the solution to most of their health-related problems. A good sleep of at least 6-7 hours can help you reduce stress, keep in isolation, make your skin glow, and will maintain proper health too. A lack of sleep is more dangerous than just feeling fatigued throughout the day. It increases your chances of several diseases, like anxiety, depression including heart disease.

If you have had a long day, and you find it hard to sleep, then listening to good music, can help. But if you still face more issues then you must consider a doctor to check if you have any other sleeping issues.

By bringing these changes, and following all these things, one can reduce their chances of having heart disease.

Have you ever felt happiness to the extent that you could literally feel all stress from your body evaporate? Ever felt so angry that you instantly got a headache? Well, of course, you have. Why? Because, in one way or the other, all the emotions that you feel have a prominent impact on your body. Many people assume that emotions, whether negative or positive, only affect your mental health. However, that isn’t true entirely. Emotion also can have a significant effect on your body and physical health as well.

A direct link between our mind and body enables our emotions to affect our mental and physical health profoundly. Therefore, emotional intelligence can help you better manage your mental health and physical well-being when you have the correct information.

Often suppressed emotions have the power to transform your perspective on life and your physical well-being. When we pay attention to our feelings when they bother us, we may help ourselves and improve our mental and physical well-being. Not all emotions are harmful to your physical well-being. Some emotions can help as your biggest motivators too! It is all about how you maintain a neutral ground with your emotions and never let anything affect you too profoundly.

Emotions And Their Effect On Your Body

Let us look at how various emotions affect our body, and if they do, then to what capacity!

Anger

Resentment, irritation, and wrath are all symptoms of anger. A stroke, heart attack, or even a heart attack can occur as a result of stress. It can also cause headache and insomnia. If you’re already suffering from a generalized anxiety disorder, rage can make things considerably worse. To avoid letting your anger get the best of you, take a step back, figure out why you’re enraged, and open out to others about what you’re thinking. Find a solution to the problem, and let rid of toxic thinking patterns.

Fear

Have you observed the palHowever, jealousy our faces when we’re afraid of something terrible? The fight-or-flight control system, the autonomic nerve system, is responsible for this. A trigger causes blood arteries to push the flow of blood to the face. This mechanism ensures that more blood is sent to the muscles and body. This entire system makes sure that we are ready to either fight the trigger or flight it.

Love

Almost all of us have experienced the kind of butterflies the emotion of love gives us. The fast heartbeats and the sweating of your hands- all of this is because your adrenaline and norepinephrine are stimulated. The release of oxytocin, also known as the love hormone, induces happiness and confidence while also reducing your pain by activating the “painkiller” parts of the brain. As an added benefit, your heart becomes more healthy and robust. Also, there are several studies which show that married people have longer lives than unmarried ones!

Depression

Emotional agony can result from depression, a neurological disorder. In this state, you are more susceptible to various infections, and your immune system is weakened as a result. It can also lead to sleeplessness due to the inability to find a comfortable position or a surplus of unsettled ideas. In addition, heart attacks are more likely to occur in depressed or who have been exposed to stress. Sad people may also have difficulty remembering things or making decisions.

Disgust

Disgust is one emotion that is difficult to combat, whether directed at somebody or something. While emotions like fear can speed up your heartbeat, disgust does quite the opposite. The feeling of disgust can slow down your heartbeat a little bit and can also make you feel nauseous. In addition, you will start to feel trippy and uncomfortable in your tummy.

This occurs because disgust produces antipathy. This means that the physiological ingredients present in disgust are the same as those found in the digestive system. However, there are ways you can avoid feeling disgusted. The best way is to inhale deeply and recognize that your emotions are attempting to rule your brain. Once this realization hits you, you can change the negative situation into a positive one!

Jealousy

Jealousy is considered sweet by some people, only if the amount of jealousy is not excessive. Controlled Jealousy could be constructive. However, uncontrolled and unmonitored jealousy can be really destructive. For example, when people are nervous or afraid of losing a loved one, they feel normal jealousy. However, jealousy can wreak havoc on relationships, families, and hearts. A person’s heart rate and blood pressure increase when under the strain of envy. Negative emotions can cause a wide range of symptoms, including a lack of desire to eat, weight gain or loss, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues, and more.

Happiness

You need good health to be happy, and you also need to feel happy if you want to be healthy. Feeling happy can increase your lifespan, strengthen your immune system, make your hearts healthier and also reduce stress on a considerable level. It also aids in the alleviation of stress. In addition, it has been shown that positive well-being has a significant influence on survival. The risk of mortality is reduced by 18 percent in healthy persons and by 2 percent in those who have pre-existing disorders, according to a study published in 2015.

Start improving your happiness right now by cutting down on your ego and expressing gratitude and love to the people who are important to you. Start doing things for yourself and not for the world. List down things that make you happy and start doing it. Make yourself the center of your universe. And remember to get some exercise and get some fresh air. Get enough rest and learn how to meditate if you don’t already know how to do so.

Pride

Being proud of yourself is way different than thinking that there is nobody like you in this world. When you start believing that you’re the best while others are not, that is where the real problem starts. Such a feeling can cause heartburn, stomachaches, high blood pressure, and other unpleasant symptoms. As the proverb goes, “Pride precedes a fall,” it is possible to become overly confident and overlook potential dangers.

Conclusion

Knowing how your emotions impact you can help you find strategies to deal with the typical stresses of life. Emotional control helps you prevent mental health difficulties like anxiety and sadness or self-harm and improve your interpersonal interactions. Being aware of how various emotions can affect you mentally and physically is the first of the many steps you need to follow to have a balanced emotional life.

Staying healthy while simultaneously making sure that your family is also maintaining a healthy lifestyle can get exhausting. The motivation to lead this wholesome lifestyle can be burnt out due to the hurdles of tracking each member’s activities. Moreover, if they are into fitness, then it can get even more difficult.

The teenagers of your family may be active, but their junk food intake is more than anyone. The timings of their meals are not too accurate or sound either. They are often found eating lunches in the evening and their dinner after midnight. This takes all the nutritional value out of the meals and only harms their body. But they won’t listen to you, will they? That’s just how it is!

Now think of one factor that will impact the way they think? Gadgets and the internet! Anything in the form of a post or an app automatically becomes relevant for the teenagers of this era. Not only them, but it also impacts the elder members of the family the same way. The elder members may eat healthily, but what about the required amount of exercise they need every day?

Health apps have got you covered in each aspect of following and maintaining a fit lifestyle. They encourage you to exercise by tracking just how much progress you have made, how many calories you have burnt, and it also helps you see the change in yourself over time due to exercising. Many features have all types of exercises and workouts included in them.

The most common one is the step-counting feature. This track calculates the distance you have walked or run in kilometers or miles (basically any measurement unit of your choice). It also notes down the speed you were covering the distance in. the type of terrain you were walking, whether it was incline or decline, etc, are all noted in this basic cardio regime. You can easily track any other workouts and get tips regarding the same!

These apps have almost all dishes and ingredients listed in their database, along with the number of calories they carry. The proportion can also be customized while logging in to your meal to match what you actually consumed. The calories are calculated depending on the dish and the proportion automatically.
Holidays bring a lot of happiness, new hopes, and along with it millions of sweets, junk food. Holidays are undoubtedly one of the best times to appreciate each other’s presence a little more and get rebonded with every lost connection in the past few months. It’s a cherry on the cake for your cravings and taste buds, but is it worth it, for your belly or that weighing scale waiting for you to have that guilt trip after the holidays?

It’s indeed necessary to enjoy and celebrate holidays to the fullest. They don’t come now and then, right? But along with eating and enjoying our favorite dishes, you have to keep your health in check, you have to remind yourself that you are on a healthy journey, for a better and healthier version of yourself.

To have a healthy holiday, here are a few tips:

Avoid stress eating:

Stress eating is a real pain in the ass. You tend to eat more and more while you’re stressing about almost everything. From an invitation to hosting a party. Family members, friends, colleges, none should be let away from any of the events. And it is pretty hard to keep a check on your meals, diet during this time. Staying healthy during such stressful holidays is necessary, you won’t let yourself fall sick at the actual party, right?

Stay hydrated:

Though it’s general advice, we cannot stress this advice enough, to stay hydrated during holidays. You get in so much rush, that you most probably forget to drink enough water. Water is 60% present in our body, and one has to maintain the percentage to keep healthy. Because you need to maintain some basic body functions as well like maintaining cell fluids and delivering nutrients as well. You have to take water and fluids in one form or another. But not the alcoholic or high calories drinks, they tend to make you feel full and heavy. During holidays, and event parties try to include water in between your cocktails. You won’t believe what magic it can do to your body.

Wash your hands frequently:

While shopping and arranging stuff for the party you have to touch a million things and get along with a zillion germs as well. You don’t like to do that, after all, it’s after 2 long years that we all can celebrate at least some festivals with our favorite ones. Either use gloves or wash your hands thoroughly to keep a check on your health.

According to research, around 48 million people get sick from a foodborne illness each year.

Eat rightly and mindfully:

The festive season is every foodie’s favorite season. You have to enjoy each of those cravings you had yearly. But, don’t let that yearly effort of yours go and get it wasted during just a few days of holidays. You have to keep an eye on what you eat and how much you eat. Alissa Rumsey, a renowned dietician, nutrition therapist of New York, and an owner of Alissa Rumsey Nutrition and Wellness says,’ when the attention shifts from your body, redirect it back to your internal fullness and satisfaction cues’. You must have heard about the fact it might take a few hours for your body to use a signal of,” I’m full”, so you have to take some time for your stomach to send your body to receive those signs and stop eating. When you give yourself time to understand this, you eat exactly how much you want to.

Never attend a party empty stomach, as we all joke sometimes. It won’t only make you eat more but will also give you a very pleasant morning the very next day.

Replace junk food with some healthy substitutes:

If you have been and want to continue on your healthy lifestyle journey, then you don’t want to ruin it with loads and loads of dessert and junk food. With some simple diet and modification with the right substitute, you can create a wonderful diet for yourself, which will keep you healthiest. Let’s say, replacing cream or toppings with healthy yogurt, which will help you in digestion throughout your day. Making vegetable, fruit dips instead of packages and heavy dips. Avoid cheese, if you can and if you are a cheese lover like any other person today, the latte cheese like soft goat cheese, cottage cheese is good to go, the Denver one is dense in calories as well, keep that in mind.

Salads are your escape during parties, loads of fresh veggies with yogurt and you’re good to go. If you are highly dedicated and don’t want to leave a slight chance of getting obsessed over food, then prepare your meal, and take it for a party, it’s okay if you take your meal, and if you’ve got friends who didn’t support and encourage while doing so, then you might it wanna change to a good company too.

Don’t stop moving:

From one bus to another, or from one cab to another is quite a deal, but you don’t want to keep that body habitual of it. You have to move your body to stay fit and at least put some effort into keeping up with that stamina. If you are too busy and feel it is hard to work out for 1 hour or even 30 minutes then 15 minutes are good enough, just to be on the track. It’s not necessary that you have to go to a gym to have that ideal body. Remember, it’s not about how much weight you pull off in a day, it’s about how consistent you were in reaching that stage of yours.

Me time is the best holiday self-gift!:

Holidays have the potential to take a toll on our mental as well as emotional health. When everybody around you gathers and to entertain and have a remembering night for everybody. It’s very natural to feel questions as this is enough.

But you shouldn’t, instead, you should take every saying taunt, lie as a compliment, and just try to go with the flow. In between the shopping, listen to your favorite artist, do some skincare to put your best foot forward as a host, and you’re ready to rock the parties.
